Day 2 reflection

Today we tried to fix and improve the waste sorter. We almost fixed it , but the sorter for cans and bottles was having lots of problems, resulting in a waste of time.

We learnt that material properties can make a big difference even thought the properties are usually unnoticed.

The bicycle power generator also brought lots of mechanical problems. We needed many people to hold and manoeuvre the generator.

Pre-camp Reflection

  • What sounds interesting about this project?
The fact that i'm going to design and create a waste sorter, where recyclable waste could be sorted sounds really exciting. In Singapore where roughly 7 and a half tonnes of waste is produced in Singapore each year, a waste sorter is really helpful.
  • What do you think you can learn from this project?
I think that i will learn many things about DC motors and machinery.
